Mungo Jerry Heads Action Packed Line Up at Mopar Nationals
70s chart toppers ‘Mungo Jerry’ will be heading up a high-octane weekend of Stateside-inspired antics at the Mopar Nationals at Santa Pod Raceway between Friday 30th July and Sunday 1st of August.
The band, well known and loved for their Global smash ‘In the Summertime’ and celebrating the 40th anniversary of the song, will be the icing on the cake of a weekend that promises so much to car enthusiasts and party people everywhere. The event is known to be one of the largest and most impressive gathering of American Muscle cars in the UK, and with a packed race programme filling the air with the sonorous sound of big-block V8 engines, there should be as much ‘music’ off stage as on it!
As well as non-stop quarter mile action, expect to see these metal leviathans burning rubber both in the drift arena and also in the ‘Burnout’ competition - where horsepower is king - and a brand new set of tyres has been known to last a couple of minutes!
With camping all weekend, a fully licensed bar and disco, plus an impressive line up of flawless show cars to drool over, there really is something for everything – and with Mungo Jerry hopefully serving up some ‘summertime’ weather.. It’s definitely one not to miss!
This is the 17th annual the Mopar EuroNationals at Santa Pod Raceway on 30th, 31st July, and 1st August.
The 1960’s and early 1970’s was the era of the American Musclecar. It is only in recent years that American auto manufacturers have again started to produce cars with performance top of the agenda, but in the 1960’s performance was everything. The auto makers were stuffing their biggest engines into their intermediate 2 door cars, which the owners could drive to work every day and race them every weekend at drag race tracks all over the country.
These ‘muscle cars’ are now over 40 years old and there is still a great following of enthusiasts all over the world. Dodge Chargers and Challengers, Plymouth Road Runners and Barracuda’s, Chevrolet Camaro’s, Ford Mustangs and many more are on display in the show-and-shine and still doing what they do best racing against each other on the drag race track. Over 2,000 muscle car fans are expected at Santa Pod this weekend.
